PWWG selected for NYSF Camp in Davis, WVJuly 07, 2009
PWWG, in association with Brandstetter Carroll Inc. and Mistick Construction Co., has been selected to design and construct the new National Center for Youth Science Education facility. The camp, situated in the Canaan Valley region of West Virginia, will house 150 students plus staff members, visiting scientists and faculty, and guests. In addition to being the permanent home for the annual one-month National Youth Science Camp, the facility will allow the National Youth Science Foundation to expand program opportunities. The design will allow the camp to be used in all seasons and it will focus on energy efficient and sustainable design strategies.
LEED Certification for Oglebay Hall and Ming Hsieh HallJuly 07, 2009
Oglebay and Ming Hsieh Halls on the Downtown Campus of West Virginia University have achieved the LEED Certified designation. This lab and classroom building included the restoration of Oglebay Hall, a historic 49,200 sf building, and construction of a 16,270 sf addition, Ming Hsieh Hall, increasing the total building size to be 65,470 sf. The renovated facilities are the home for WVU's highly regarded Forensic and Investigative Sciences program along with a variety of general purpose classrooms and two new lecture halls.

Construction Underway at Misciagna Family Arts CenterJuly 07, 2009
A contract for the construction of the Misciagna Family Arts Center at the Penn State University Altoona campus has been awarded to Leonard S. Fiore, Inc. of Altoona. Construction began in early March 2009. The $2.1 million, 6,600 SF addition and renovation of the theater and visual arts building is expected to be completed in December 2009. The addition will add a 2,100 square foot dance studio with performance floor and clear height for future theatrical rigging, a 1,500 square foot scene shop, and a 12 foot wide, 18 foot high extension of stage right. The spaces will give the Integrative Arts and Theater programs much-needed additional space, and the arrangement of the spaces will provide building users with a high degree of flexibility for teaching and performances.
Operating Engineers Training Facility Receives Board ApprovalJuly 07, 2009
Mascaro Construction and PWWG have received approval to begin Schematic Design for a new 38,000 SF training facility in New Alexandria, PA for the Western Pennsylvania Operating Engineers. The project has been registered for LEED Silver Certification and will feature an array of passive and active sustainable systems. The project design team includes CJL Engineering, Atlantic Engineers, Gateway Engineers, and Strategic Design Solutions.
Vermeire Manor Phase 1 complete... Phase 2 BeginsJuly 07, 2009
Phase I at Vermeire Manor was recently completed and occupied. The project, located in Sharon, PA, converted 15 efficiency apartments into one-bedroom units for the Mercer County Housing Authority. Living rooms were added to the existing units through ground-up additions to the existing building, while the remaining apartment space was fully renovated. The General Contractor for the project was Vendrick Construction of Brookfield, OH. A second phase of work at Vermeire Manor is scheduled to begin in August to convert 24 additional apartments. Phase II work also involves extensive site improvements, including a new courtyard space for the residents.

The McKeesport Housing Authority has received a Merit Award from the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials, and a nomination for an Award for Excellence for PWWG's design for the renovation of 'Harrison Village'. The project recycles walkup apartment buildings as townhouses and replaces blight with a vibrant new neighborhood.
